Just like many other holistic healing practitioners, I started my journey due to my own challenges with injuries, chronic pain and body image. I was very active while in school, participating on all the school athletic teams I could. This resulted in several injuries, mostly to my knees. After graduation, the reality of living a more sedentary life kicked in. Working long hours at a desk job really started to take its toll on my body. Combining this with a few car accidents, and having a couple of babies, my body did not move the way it used to. It was not happy, in fact, it hurt all the time. I knew that I needed to bring more movement into my life, so I started easy with deep water aerobics to be gentle to the knees. When I was unable to fit the classes into my schedule, I knew I needed to find an alternative activity. This led me to hot yoga. I was hooked from the first class and eventually decided that I wanted to share the experience with others, so I took the training to become an instructor. This decision was the first step towards my decision that I wanted to help others with their health and wellness. While still working an office job I was starting to have carpal tunnel issues and I knew that I needed to look at alternate methods of care or I was going to end up having surgery. It was at this point that I decided to try Rolfing. I found relief not only with the carpal issues, but in other areas of my body. The learning aspect which happens during a session was what made this treatment so different from the other treatments I have received.
